Introduction
I am a Senior Research Officer in the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the University of Oxford (UK), and Research Coordinator at the Herman Deleeck Centre for Social Policy (University of Antwerp, Belgium), where I direct research on poverty and social protection. I am a sociologist by training, with a doctorate from the University of Antwerp (2012). My main research interests include poverty, inequality and social policy, and, more recently, the distributive effects of environmental policies. Current research focuses on strategies to reduce inequality in rich countries, the measurement of poverty, social policy, and the identification of eco-social policies that jointly reduce inequality and have beneficial environmental effects. I have a strong methodological background in the area of constructiong social indicators, social policy evaluation, and survey methodology. I am an expert member of the network for the analysis of the EU Survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC) and the European Social Survey’s Sampling and Weighting Expert Panel. My most recent book (published by Oxford University Press) is ‘Decent incomes for all. Improving policies in Europe’, co-edited with Bea Cantillon and John Hills.
