Introduction
Aleks Deejay is the research coordinator for The Policy Lab. Aleks's research explores the governance of emerging technologies, attitudes towards automation and AI, and critical discourses of technology and technological futures, and use and impact of emerging technologies in public policy and services. He has researched and taught at The University of Melbourne and Monash University.
Expert
Aleks received his PhD at The University of Melbourne in 2016 where his dissertation examined the relationship between digital technology and the semiotics of protest movements. He is currently the research and program coordinator for The Policy Lab at the University of Melbourne where he works on several projects for The Policy Lab involving public sector innovation labs, including an evaluation of a world-first initiative called 'States of Change'. His current research looks at socio-technological imaginaries in governance, regulation and policies towards emerging technologies, emerging technologies in public services, and attitudes towards automation and AI. He has taught units in technology and society, research and policy design, international relations, and gender. Prior to starting at The Policy Lab, Aleks worked as a lecturer in International Relations and on pedagogical studies examining active learning in tertiary education.
