Introduction
I am originally from the Caribbean and have worked in universities in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. I currently work in the UK, where my primary field is in learning and teaching approaches of students and teachers in universities. I am particularly interested in understanding how students and teachers from marginalised groups adapt to university life.
My current work involves investigating how international academics adapt to different teaching situations when they migrate and how they are made to be feel included and welcomed.
I have previously explored how students learn mathematics with technology and use technology in their university years. I have an interest in gender studies and mental & well-being.
Expert
I have taught and research on the learning and teaching approaches in higher education systems for over ten years and hold a PhD in Educational Technology. I have extensive experience in developing academics in preparing them for teaching in universities and developing their curriculum (I currently contribute to training around 100 teaching academics per year). I have considerable knowledge on the issues faced by academics moving into different countries and their adaption to curriculum design and teaching approaches. I have recently published an edited book on this area entitled "Academics’ International Teaching Journeys" with Bloomsbury.
I have a background in Physics, Engineering and Education and have taught in five universities (2 in the Caribbean and 3 in the UK).
