Managing Director of ELIA, Ecological Living In Action Ltd, in Mauritius. ELIA – Ecological Living In Action Ltd that provides consultancy and training services in climate change, carbon accounting and finance, ecological literacy, energy futures, corporate sustainability reporting, and institutional learning for sustainability mainly in Sub-saharan African and Middle East countries. He is currently a member of the Mauritius Sustainability Index Supervisory Committee, and a member of the Business Mauritius sub-committee on Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Expert
Sanju holds a Bachelor of Systems Engineering from the Australian National University (ANU), MSc in Physics from the University of Pretoria (South Africa), PhD in Semiconductor Physics, ANU, and MBA in Technology Management from LaTrobe University (Australia). He has published over 130 research articles, technical and policy papers, and generated patents on thin-film silicon solar cells technologies for photovoltaic applications.
Sanju has worked for the Mauritius Research Council and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). With UNDP, he managed the climate change portfolio for Mauritius, and provided technical backstopping to UNDP Regional CDM Capacity Development Program in Eastern and Southern Africa. He has been a member of UNDESA’s Technical Advisory Group supporting the development of the Vulnerability-Resilience Profile (VRP) methodology for SIDS, and a member of the UNEP’s Expert Group for developing an Inclusive Green Growth Index.
