I am interested in exploring and analyzing youth policies, inclusive policies, cultural policies for the promotion of diversity and intercultural/interreligious dialogue and policies surrounding peace and security architecture for development, notably in the context of prevention of violent extremism in West Africa.

Syahirah is a Senior Lecturer, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA specialized in gender studies, politics, human development, governance and policy. She holds a Bachelor of Human Science (BHSc hons) degree in Political Science (2001), and MHSc in Political Science (2004) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Ph.D in Political Science (2011) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She has been actively involved in various NGOs and academic organizations. She was a former Honorary Assistant Treasurer of National Council for Women’s Organization (NCWO) and EXCO of the South East Asian Association for Gender Studies, Malaysian Branch (SAMA). Currently, she is PSSM Vice President and a working group member of National Council of Women’s Organization (NCWO) International and Policy Committee. She is also a Life Member of International Movement for A Just World (JUST).
