The UNESCO E-Team on Multilingualism and Language Rights addresses a critical aspect of cultural diversity and human rights – the preservation and promotion of linguistic diversity. In our increasingly globalized world, where dominant languages often overshadow regional and minority languages, there is a growing concern about linguistic erosion and the loss of cultural heritage. This not only impacts individual identity but also affects access to education, legal systems, and digital platforms, potentially leading to social and economic inequality.
The goal of this E-Team is to advocate for and implement policies that support linguistic diversity. The E-Team engages in various activities, including research on linguistic trends and collaboration with policymakers to integrate solutions into national and international policy frameworks. Ultimately, this E-Team endeavors to ensure that language remains a tool for inclusion, not exclusion, in our interconnected world.
