2nd World Forum on Climate Justice 21-23 September 2021

Dear Friends anc colleagues

I would like to welcome you all to the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab.  I am delighted to connect with you and I look forward to our continuing conversations on this platform.  This is a wonderful initiative by UNESCO and I am honoured to have been invited to lead in conversations.  I am looking forward to your ideas too on how we can utilise this platform to further conversations on climate justice in terms of research, teaching and learning and indeed wider public engagment of the issues particlarly in the run up to COP26 in Glasgow.  I am based in Glasgow as Director of The Centre for Climate Justice (Glasgow Caledonian University) as such COP26 is keeping us very busy!  I will be in touch about convening a meeting to explore way in which we can come together virtually and even at some point in the future in person!.  In the meantime I would like to share with you all that The Centre for Climate Justice will be hosting the 2nd World Forum on Climate Justice.

The 2nd World Forum on Climate Justice comes on the back of the success of the inaugural Forum held in June 2019 at Glasgow Caledonian University, which featured keynotes from distinguished speakers including Mary Robinson, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP and Kerry Kennedy. To Forum was attended by over 150 delegates from around the world. The 2nd World Forum on Climate Justice will take place on the 21-23 September 2021, just two months before global leaders meet in the city for the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Held fully online, the World Forum will have a far greater reach and be more accessible to delegates from around the world. Our key themes – COP26 and COVID-19 – recognise the need to incorporate climate justice into global climate governance and the post-pandemic recovery.

The abstract submission deadline for the 2nd World Forum on Climate Justice has been extended to 12th July 2021. Registration Fee Waivers are available for attendees from DAC countries.

We are also delighted to announce the first two keynote speakers: Mary Robinson Chair of the Elders and Kumi Naidoo Global Ambassador, Africans Rising for Justice, Peace and Dignity.

Please feel free to share this message via email and social media. More information can be found below and on the Forum website. Should you have any questions, please contact wfcj@conferencepartners.com

I do look forward to you joining us for this event in September.

With kind regards for now and I will be touch again soon.
