While the existing scattered evidence has pointed to the vulnerabilities of communities in the event of slow onset and extreme events, few have been dedicated to understanding those of women and girls with disabilities in the event of continuing loss and damage by climate change and impacts of mitigation and adaptation.
UNESCO is partnering with the Pacific Disability Forum to conduct a case study research into the vulnerabilities of women and girls with disabilities in the context of loss and damage by climate change in Fiji.
At the same time, both organisations are calling for submission of good practices of DPOs and governments in advocating for the mainstreaming of disability inclusion in policies and programmes for climate change and disaster risks acorss the Pacific.
