This e-team is concerned with the inclusion of the LGBTI Community within the public education system in Costa rica. In particular we want to develop evidence that is fit for the purposes of the SDGs and their inclusive policy pillar - i.e. evidence that is increasingly equity-weighted, integrated, multi-dimensional, and policy-sensitive. The Costa Rican State has adopted various international legal instruments that accord the right to non-discrimination for gender or sexual orientation. This said, there remain important challenges regarding inclusion within the public education system in Costa Rica.
The main deliverable from this e-team is an up-to-date and comparative analysis the aforementioned practices and policies in Costa Rica. The work will be ultimately geared towards identification of practices and mechanisms which could be extrapolated and replicated, after an appropriate level of customization and contextualization, at a larger scale and in the different sub-national and sectoral contexts.
