SHORT DESCRIPTION

At an online seminar for Global Climate Change Week 2024, Emeritus Professor Stephen Sterling challenged us to conceptualise a new ontology and epistemology for higher education that would transcend the disiplinary silos and ensure far greater knowledge integration than currently.

The purpose of this e-team is to advance the ideas presented at the GCCW 2024 forum by bringing together all those interested in Higher Education for Sustainability that are interested in exploring critical, deliberative systems thinking with a view to placing it at the centre of higher education's approach to sustainability, understood as the deep integration of the social, economic, environmental and cultural dimensions of a fused socio-ecological reality.

The ultimate aim of this initiative will be to establish a new, integrated pedagogy for a Sustainable Education System founded on the key elements of integrating human provisioning with social equity and ecosystem resilience.
