World Press Freedom Day 2018

VICTOR Bwire is the Programmes Manager at the Media Council of Kenya. In addition to managing the programmes portfolio at the Council, he runs trainings on specialised reporting including safety and protection of journalists, media and terrorism and violent extremism, fake news and media ethics, in Kenya and the East and Great Horn of Africa. He previously worked as an investigative reporter at the Daily Nation.

He has taught at the University of Nairobi, United States International University (USIU) and Mt. Kenya University. He has published extensively on media and VE, safety of journalists, media and migration

He previously worked at ARTICLE 19 Eastern Africa s Progammes Officer on Journalists safety and media freedom has been a writer for the Nation Media Group and The Standard as and Human Rights Officer at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.

Victor holds an MA in Communication and Media Studies, Post- Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication and a BA from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Post- Graduate Diploma in Environmental Journalism and Communication from Makerere University, Uganda.
