World Press Freedom Day 2018

Independent multimedia journalist Stella Paul shares stories of those who have been silenced. Consistently enduring death threats, threats against the welfare and safety of her family, detention, and physical harassment in pursuit of stories, Paul is perhaps best known for her work to amplify the voices of rape and sexual violence survivors, sex workers, and other marginalized communities in India. She has been crusading for honesty and integrity in journalism for more than a decade. Paul sheds light on the impact of climate change and gender-based violence in the the most remote and conflicted regions of India. For this, she receives criticism and threats of violence on multiple fronts.
