World Press Freedom Day 2018

Ruth Kronenburg (1964) has been Director of Operations for Free Press Unlimited since 2011. As such she is responsible for finances, human resources, internal and external communications and the safeguarding of knowledge, quality and safety. With her years of experience in commercial media organizations, and her affinity with the human aspects of this work, she provides the necessary conditions for Free Press Unlimited to operate.

Ruth Kronenburg studied Communication and Business Administration. For years she worked in the commercial world of television where she held various management and executive positions. For a period of 17 years, she has been responsible for a wide range of activities, varying from business operations to production, to supervising the merger and setting up country offices for Endemol in Belgium and Switzerland. The year 2009 comes with a change of direction, when she is asked to help “Radio Zamaneh”, an Iranian radio station, solve their financial problems. she was touched by the personal stories of people who worked at the radio station and who had left Iran, often risking their own lives. Their stories made her decide to follow her heart and switch to the non-profit world. After having successfully supervised the merger of Press Now and Free Voice, she applies for the vacancy of Director of Operations at Free Press Unlimited. In this role her experiences in the commercial media world come together, but now with an extra dimension: contributing to a better world.
