Jeremy Dear is Deputy General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists. He worked for 20 years as a staff and freelance journalist in the UK covering social issues including homelessness and social exclusion and worked as a freelance for 5 years in Latin America covering human rights and freedom of expression issues and has written for The Guardian and New Statesman among others. He was General Secretary of the National Union of Journalists for 10 years and served as the journalists' voice on the National Training Organisation for the journalism industry.
