World Press Freedom Day 2018

Ms Filippa Arvas Olsson, senior adviser at the Swedish Ministry of Culture. Employed in the Division for media and film since 2003. Tasks at the Ministry includes a wide range of issues related to national and international media policy. Responsible for Swedish audiovisual negotiations at EU-level and earlier for policy work within the Council of Europe. Has for many years focused on national and international policy for freedom of speech and media independence also in relation to more technical regulation of broadcasting, such as distribution, spectrum allocation and content and advertising regulation. Has also been involved with policy for press subsidies, protection of minors and media literacy, and lately with issues related to the relation between traditional media companies and social media including policy to deal with disinformation and propaganda as a challenge for the functioning of the democratic state.
