Dapo Olorunyomi s currently the Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times Limited, a news multimedia platform based in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
Previous to this, he served as policy director and chief of staff at Nigeria’s foremost anti corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
He served at different times as editor at Radio Nigeria, The News, and African Guardian magazines, and most recently at NEXT newspapers, [234next.com], all based in Lagos. He is also the founder of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism [www.wscij.org] based in Lagos Nigeria.
His work as editor during the years of military dictatorship in Nigeria earned him the 1995 International Editor of the Year Award of the World Press Review; the 1996 PEN Center (West) Freedom to Write Award; Press Freedom Award (1996) of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) New York; and between 1999 and 2001, he served as member of a five-man International Jury for the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists [ICIJ] Award, and was West Africa Analyst for the Global Survey of Media Independence in 2004. He is currently vice president for CENOZO, the west African initiative on investigative journalism.
He was educated at Obafemi Awolowo University of Ife, Ile-Ife, the Washington College of Law of the American University in Washington DC, and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
