Anneke Meerkotter
Litigation Director - Southern Africa Litigation Centre
Litigation Director of the Southern Africa Litigation Centre, Anneke Meerkotter, first joined the organization as a programme manager working on LGBT and Sex Workers rights, in February 2012. Ms. Meerkotter began her journey in the sphere of law with attainment of law degrees from the University of the Western Cape along with a diploma in legal practice from the University of Cape Town and a Masters in Sociology from the University of Amsterdam. She has previously worked as an attorney at Tshwaranang Legal Advocacy Centre and the AIDS Law Project. Ms. Meerkotter has been actively involved in key human rights cases in Southern Africa, including numerous cases related to freedom of expression and press freedom. Her professional endeavors also include her contribution to the Community Law Centre as a legal researcher.
