Nur Hasyim

Founder and Head, Aliansi Laki-Laki Baru (New Men Alliance)

Nur Hasyim has been working for the women crisis center for more than 15 years. As its public relations officer, he oversaw several media campaigns, including a Radio Program for eliminating violence against women in Indonesia. Since 2006, Hasyim has developed initiatives on engaging men and boys in ending violence against women. As part of these, he did formative research on how to engage men in gender based violence prevention and also developed a curriculum towards behaviour change for male abusive partners. This manual has now become the main reference on working with male abusive partners in Indonesia.
Hasyim is also active at the community level, where he developed two hour discussion trainings to involve men in achieving gender equality and gender based violence prevention. He has significant experience in working with international NGOs and UN Agencies as an individual consultant on projects related to gender mainstreaming and gender based violence prevention.
Hasyim is an active proponent of gender equality and the prevention of gender based violence at the national, regional and global levels.
