Mogens Blicher Bjerregård is a senior journalist with experience in print media, radio and tv. He has also been an active advocate for press freedom in various positions.
Since May 2013, Bjerregård is the President of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ). In addition, he is a Member of the Intergovernmental Council and Bureau of UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC). Bjerregård is also a Board Member of the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom since 2015.
From 2001 to 2016, he was instrumental in the press freedom NGO International Media Support (IMS), where he was Board Member and also Vice President. During this time, from 1999 to 2015, he also served as president of the Danish Union of Journalists.
Today, Bjerregård focuses on the capacity building of organizations, authors’ rights, ethics and code of conducts, press freedom issues and labor rights.
