World Press Freedom Day 2017

Ms Meutya Hafid is a member of the People's Representative Council. She is currently Deputy Chairman of the Commission I (Defense, Military, Intelligence, Information and Foreign Affairs), and part of the Golkar Party. Previously she has worked as a journalist for Metro TV. Hafid published a book on her own experience as a journalist being kidnapped, entitled 168 Jam dalam Sandera: Memoar Seorang Jurnalis yang Disandera di Irak (168 Hours Taken as A Hostage: Memoirs of a Journalist in Iraq). She was awarded with the Elizabeth O'Neill Journalism Award and with the Australia Alumnus Award for the category of Journalism and Media.
