Imam Wahyudi

Journalist, trainer and Member of Dewan Pers (Indonesian Press Council)

Imam Wahyudi began his career as professional journalist in 1987. He started as a correspondent for Wawasan Daily Evening, in Semarang, Central Java. Three years later, he moved to PROSPEK, a weekly news magazine, where he held various positions including Assignment Manager and Business Compartment Editor.  In 1994 Wahyudi joined Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI), the first and leading private TV station in Indonesia. As a TV journalist, he was assigned to cover important events, especially conflict issues, with "hot zones" such as East Timor, Papua and Aceh. Wahyudi also covered conflict abroad, where he was stationed in former Yugoslavia. He has held various positions, including News Gathering Assistant Manager, Executive Producer and Deputy Editor in Chief. 
In addition, Wahyudi is also active as a trainer. He was a one of main trainers of the Television Journalism Training (PJTV) during 2000-2003. This institution was managed by Internews in cooperation with Indonesia’s University. They provided training programmes for television journalists from all over Indonesia.
In 2006, Wahyudi decided to pick up a new challenge by joining Astro Awani, the private 24/7 news and information channel. In 2010, he set up his own company, Content Creative Indonesia (CCI), which provides multiplatform content, media consultancy and training.
From 2006 to 2012, Wahyudi headed the Indonesia TV Journalist Association (IJTI). In 2013, he was elected as a member of the Indonesian Press Council. Earlier this year, he was re-elected as a member for the period 2016-2019.
