Elisabeth Witchel
Independent media consultant to Committee to Protect Journalists, Freedom House and International Media Support
Ms Elisabeth Witchel works as independent consultant in the field of human rights and freedom of expression serving NGOs such as the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), International Media Support (IMS) and Freedom House. At CPJ, she launched in 2007 the Global Campaign against Impunity and authored several reports such as Getting Away with Murder: Global Impunity Index and Survey of Journalists in Exile. At IMS, she joined an international mission to Nepal providing expertise on international mechanisms to protect journalists and she has conducted workshops on safety of women journalists. Previously, she worked as international reporter. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University and a Master’s degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.
