World Press Freedom Day 2016

Roberts Putnis is the Head of Media Policy at the Latvian Ministry of Culture. Prior to joining the Ministry in April of 2015, he spent seven years working in insurance in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr Putnis has a strong NGO background, having been the Executive Chair of the Latvian branch of Transparency International from 2004 to 2008. Under his leadership, the leading watchdog organization was able to set the national policymaking agenda in the anti-corruption field, and to promote effective political participation. Putnis is also heavily interested in European issues and human rights. He studied Political Science and International Relations in Latvia, and Law in Germany.
