Mogens Blicher Bjerregård
President, European Federation of Journalists (Denmark)
Mogens Blicher Bjerregård is the President of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) since May 2013, and former President of the Danish Union of Journalists 1999-2015. He is now working as Independent international freelancer. Cofounder and board member 2001-2016 of International Media Support (IMS), he is at present a board member of the European Center for Press and Media Freedom, and representing Denmark in the Council and Bureau of the International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC), UNESCO.
As leader of EFJ he is responsible for the development of the organization on behalf of 68 affiliates representing 300.000 journalists in 42 European countries. This includes both trade union and authors’ rights topics and media freedom related issues, such as ensuring pluralism, ethical standards, access to information, protection of sources, self-regulation of media and safety for journalists.
