Javier Garza Ramos
Safety Advisor, World Editors Forum (Mexico)
Javier Garza Ramos is a journalist based in northern Mexico, dedicated to freedom of expression and journalist safety issues. He was editorial director of El Siglo de Torreón, a newspaper that was repeatedly attacked by drug cartels and where Garza developed security protocols that have served as a model in other newspapers in Mexico and Central America. He is a former Knight Fellow at the International Center for Journalists where he conducted trainings on digital security. He serves as a safety advisor and board member at the World Editors Forum and he is currently the Latin American manager for the World Association of Newspaper’s media strengthening program.
