The third meeting of the International Network for the UNESCO Silk Roads Online Platform will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 4 to 5 May 2017.  Focal Points from 25 member states will be in attendance, representing their respective countries, along with academics and experts who will exchange experiences and good practices in promoting and implementing activities related to the Silk Roads.  The main objective of this meeting is to discuss the implementation of the 2016-2018 Action Plan of the International Network that was adopted during the second meeting of the Network in Valencia in June 2016.  It will also review the most significant initiatives undertaken by focal points and their partners since the last meeting of the Network.

This meeting will take place in conjunction with the 4th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, which will be held from 5 to 6 May 2017 in Baku.  The forum will deliver the global agenda on the Dialogue among Civilisations, highlighting continued barriers to dialogue and the initiatives that have been implemented to overcome those challenges in diverse contexts.  In addition to its dynamic location, Baku will serve both events as a symbolic bridge between North and South, East and West.  Its history as a crossroads of people and cultures from Europe and Islam serves as a reminder of the two civilizations’ shared values and the path that has been forged towards peace.

The third meeting of the International Network for the UNESCO Silk Roads Online Platform will be organized thanks to the support provided by the government of Azerbaijan.
