The training was hosted by Kahama FM Radio, in the Shinyanga region, Tanzania, and took part from 3 to 7 December 2012. Twenty community radio practioners from five community radio stations came together for a five days training workshop on radio programming and gender.

Participants were introduced to gender mainstreaming, monitoring and basic concepts associated with audience research. The training took into account the results of a baseline survey on the quality of the radio station’s programmes. Participants represented community radio stations from cluster B of five community radio stations namely ORS FM Simanjiro (Manyara), Fadeco Community Radio (Karagwe), Sengerema Community Radio, Mwanza and the host Kahama FM Radio (Shinyanga). The intervention contributed to the achievement of key project results, developing sensitive programming in local radios operations and content in areas of local interest. 

 
The training was conducted by Coordinator and Facilitator of Community Media Training - Rose Haji Mwalimu. The central objective of the workshop was to gauge gender sensitive programming in local radios operations and content and monitoring methods.
