Radio Déo Gratias, created in 2005, is operated under the leadership of Mrs. Solange Tshiloz. The station broadcasts from Kamsumbalesa, province of Katanga to an audience of about 150.000 inhabitants. The radio programs, produced mainly in local languages, cover education, health, HIV/AIDS, environment preservation and good governance issues. The station collaborates with UNICEF, Centre Lokole (Search for Common Ground), Radio Okapi (MONUSCO), Panos Paris, etc. The permanent staff is composed of 8 persons, among whom 3 are women.
The project Empowering Local Radios with ICTs conducted a research together with local radio stations to identify main issues of local public concern in the Radio Déo Gratias’s coverage area:
- Mother-Child health
- Means of production
- Crops transfer to place of sale
- Marketing and sales of products
- Education for environment
- Environment preservation
