Objectives and Mission: 

To emancipate and empower women so that they may fully realize their human potential without hindrance from gender steretotypes or unjust political and social systems. Priority issues: Development; men's, women's and children's rights; adult education and literacy; vocational training.

General description: 

2005 marks 150 years since the YWCA first begun. Power to Change is the YWCA Global Campaign for the Leadership Development of Women and Girls. Its aim is to raise the equivalent of one US dollar for each of the 25 million women and girls in the YWCA movement. These funds will be invested and the income generated will sustain new and existing programmes that empower women and girls to lead social change. Global Campaing HIV/AIDS: the objectives of the Campaign are the education of women and girls about HIV/AIDS, expansion of prevention and support programmes, and the empowerment of woment to make informed choices about their lives. The World YWCA supports a number of HIV/AIDS related projects through the Women and Development Fund
