Internet Society

Objectives and Mission:

Provide leadership in Internet related standards, education and policy; ensure the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of all worldwide.

General description:

Since 1992, ISOC has served as the international organization for global coordination and cooperation on the Internet; its main aim is to promote and maintain a broad spectrum of activities focused on the Internet’s development, availability and associated technologies and applications - both as an end in itself, and as a means of enabling organizations, professions and individuals worldwide to more effectively collaborate, cooperate and innovate in their respective fields and interests. ISOC acts not only as a global clearing house for Internet information and education but also as a facilitator and coordinator of Internet-related initiatives around the world. Through its annual International Networking (INET) conference and other sponsored events, developing country training workshops, tutorials, statistical and market research, publications, public policy and trade activities, regional and local chapters, standardization activities, committees and an international secretariat, ISOC serves the needs of the growing global Internet community.
