The Association Montessori International (AMI) was founded in 1929 by Maria Montessori to maintain the integrity of her life's work and to ensure that it would be perpetuated for future generations.AMI's mission is to support the natural development of the human being from birth to maturity, enabling children to become the transforming elements of society, leading to a harmonious and peaceful world.The AMI aims to:
propagate, maintain and further the rights of the child, specifically by promoting Montessori education.
spread knowledge of the physical, intellectual, moral and social development of the child; to demonstrate the importance of the child in, and for, society.
safeguard Dr Maria Montessori’s principles and practices of education as an aid to life.
advocate general recognition of the rights of all children without prejudice.
co-operate with other organizations which pursue similar aims.
