International Confederation Of Societies Of Authors And Composers

Objectives and Mission: 

The CISAC is a confederacy of all the bodies representing authors and composers, it groups together 203 societies of authors and composers of 104 countries who defends their interests.
To encourage governments to improve legislation protecting authors.
To promote better understanding and recognition of copyright by users of works and the public in general.
To ensure the safeguarding, respect and protection of the moral, economic and legal interests arising from all literary and artistic productions on national or international levels.
To coordinateactivities among societies of authors and composers.

General description: 

"Copyright Summit", organised by CISAC in Brussels, Belgium, 30-31 May 2007. This Summit is the premiere cross-industry forum for the open exchange of ideas on the notion, value and future of copyright as well as the role of creators and the collective management of authors' rights.
Missions of studies and expertise in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Annual training courses in Montevideo for the staff of Latin American and Asian societies of authors.
