The Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) is a learning community of educators which aims to promote the full inclusion of people who are disadvantaged because of their sexual orientation or sexual identity by identifying, enhancing and sharing educational expertise.
GALE creates a range of virtual groups for the development of curricula and training for professionals. It also creates practical local projects for collaboration between LGBT and mainstream institutions, and develops a capacity building programme which supports professionalization of small and volunteer based organizations. On the international ground, GALE organized workshops at the Outgames Conference in Copenhagen and on the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA) Europe Conference in Malta, where the initial results of a European quick scan were presented. A worldwide teacher training expert meeting was organized in Poland (November 2008) by their implementing partner Campaign Against Homophobia, where 14 experts met, explored good practices and the opportunities to collaborate on a joint format.
