UNESCO cooperates with a variety of International Networks, such as Category 2 Centres and UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks. Through capacity-building, knowledge sharing and research, they are important partners for the Organization and provide a valuable and unique contribution to the implementation of UNESCO’s strategic programme objectives.
The 37th session of the General Conference adopted the Comprehensive Partnership Strategy for UNESCO, which defines the overall framework for partnership and separated strategies for engagement with individual categories of partner, including international networks.Comprehensive Partnership Strategy
In an effort to strengthen cooperation among these strategic partners, the first coordination meeting was held in December 2015 with Category 2 Institutes and Centres (C2Cs) and UNITWIN Networks/UNESCO Chairs related to the UNESCO Culture Sector. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to share experience and knowledge, to promote interaction, and to explore the possible establishment of a network among C2Cs and Chairs working in the field of culture.
