Nnenna Nwakanma

An experienced development professional who has worked in the ICT field in Africa (Nigeria)

I was born in March.. but only got a name in June. Three months without identity, because I am a girl.

Ms. Nwakanma works to develop cutting-edge collaborations in Africa. Her work has a particular focus on the Alliance for Affordable Internet project and the Web We Want campaign for human rights on and through the Web. She is also deeply involved in driving forward the open data agenda across Africa. Ms. Nwakanma in recent years co-founded The Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa, and has served as a board member of the Open Source Initiative.

Ms. Nwakanma will share her view regarding the role that of information and knowledge via the Internet can play in the struggle for gender equality.
