World Radio Day 2018 marked at the Winter School of Journalism and Communication in Almaty
This year’s celebration of the World Radio Day dedicated to sports. To mark the occasion, the the 5th Winter School of Journalism and Communication organized by the Faculty of Journalism of Аl-Farabi Kazakh National University from 25 to 27 January 2018 include master classes dedicated to the topics of Radio and Sport, Sport and journalism, Sport and digital news literacy.
The Winter School of Journalism is organized annually. Near 100 participants from community, national and private radio stations, as well as Universities including members of Model UN New Silk Road from Central Asia participate in a series of master classes and training modules in Zailiyski Alatau mountain area near Almaty city.
Female participants of the seminar, inspired by the sports example from Tash-Kumyr, Kyrgyzstan themselves tried to measure their strength with male participants.
A journalism teacher from Kazakhstan tries her hand at force sports in order to train the young radio journalists, to make sport programs for radio using her own experience.
In response to UNESCO's appeal to give women more opportunities, in covering women in sport, the editor-in-chief of the Almaty branch of the national radio network "Kazakh Radio" invited interested female students of journalism faculties to practice sports commentators profession in the sports editorial office of the broadcasting outlet.
Kazakh Radiosy Sport Programme broadcasted the audio message from Ms Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on the occasion of World Radio Day in Kazak Language.
