UNESCO in Brazil and Rio Grande do Sul State sign agreement for HIV preventive education among young people

UNESCO in Brazil will sign a technical cooperation project with the government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul that aims at strengthening preventive education in the fight against Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and AIDS in the State. The signing of the agreement takes place next Monday (10), at 10:30 am, at the Piratini Palace. The Director and Representative of UNESCO in Brazil, Marlova Jovchelovitch Noleto, and the governor of Rio Grande do Sul State, Eduardo Leite, will join the ceremony.
The project's priority is adolescents and young people. The action will support the State Department of Health in the development of innovative social technologies for HIV education and prevention, as well as communication strategies to encourage safer sex behaviors.
The agreement will last four years, and UNESCO will provide specialized consultants in the subject. It is expected also a coordinated work between professionals of the sectors of Education and Health of Rio Grande do Sul State.
