UNESCO approach to sexuality education featured on Radio France International

Radio France International’s (RFI) David Coffey spoke to UNESCO’s Chief of Health and Education, Christophe Castle, about the revised International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education (ITGSE) which was released on 10 January.

The interview touched on the issue of the unmet needs of many adolescents and young people to good quality, curriculum-based comprehensive sexuality education, and the challenges of receiving accurate information in a world where young people have access to large bodies of material of variable quality on the internet.

Produced in collaboration with UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, and WHO, the Technical Guidance aims to assist education, health and other relevant authorities in the development and implementation of CSE programmes and materials. It is based on a new review of evidence, together with a review of curricula around the world commissioned by UNESCO in 2016.
