Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An, Viet Nam, December 2020 – “Plastic Action Day” saw three hundred participants from UNESCO, Man and Biosphere Programme (MAB) Viet Nam, leaders from Quang Nam province and Hoi An City, scientists, youth and media to raise awareness and call for actions to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment. This event is a part of “Youth and Innovation for Ocean Initiative” Programmes, co-organised by UNESCO office in Viet Nam and Cu Lao Cham - Hoi A World Man and Biosphere Reserve, with kind support from the Coca-Cola Foundation.

Participants of the 2021 World Press Freedom Day Global Conference adopted the “Windhoek + 30 Declaration”, thirty years after the landmark meeting that brought forth the 1991 Windhoek Declaration on Free, Independent, and Pluralistic Press, which triggered the proclamation of 3 May as World Press Freedom Day. The conference was held from 29th April to 3rd May, same dates of the 1991 Seminar, and in a hybrid format.
