On 13 June 2017, the UNESCO Khartoum Office and Ministry of Information signed the Agreement of the Government of Sudan to support the project on strengthening a rural broadcast in the Eastern states of Sudan, funded by Italy. The ceremony took place on the premises of the Ministry of Information. It was honored by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bilal Osman, the Assistant to the President of Sudan and the Minister of Information, H.E Mr. Fabrizio Lobasso, the Ambassador of Italy in Sudan, H.E Dr. Pavel Kroupkine, the Representative of UNESCO to Sudan, H.E Yasir Khidir, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Information, H.E. Mr. El Tahir S. Aidam, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of International Cooperation, Dr. Vincenzo Racalbuto, the Director of the Italian Agency for IDevelopment Cooperation in Sudan, Dr. Abdelgadir Noureddin, the Secretary General for the Sudanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, and Mr. El-Zubair Osman, the General Director of Sudanese TV and Radio Corporation.
H.E Dr. Ahmed Bilal Osman, the Minister of Information, expressed his gratitude to Italy for the Italian support to development of Sudan, his full support to the project, and his will to continue collaborating with UNESCO and other partners to strengthen Sudanese Media. He also indicated the MoI’s intention to facilitate similar activities in other states of Sudan. H.E Fabrizio Lobasso, the Italian Ambassador, confirmed permanent support of Italy for further development in Sudan, highlighted the importance of communication for the society, and blessed the project to be started. H.E. Dr. Pavel Kroupkine, the Head of the Khartoum office and UNESCO Representative to Sudan, expressed his happiness of passing this milestone, and outlined the importance and benefit of the project to Sudanese Rural Communities and People. H.E Yassir Khidir, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Information, expressed his satisfaction of the project, and joined to other speakers blessing it.
