Irina Bokova in Madrid to prepare and attend the UN Chief Executives Board

From 2-6 April, 2013, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is in Madrid to attend the United Nations Chief Executives Board (CEB) Spring 2013 Session, and to undertake United Nations coordination consultations.

On behalf of the United Nations Secretary-General, the UNESCO Director-General and the Executive Director of United Nations Population Fund are co-leading the Special Working Meeting on the Review of the CEB mechanism.

Discussions at this CEB session will focus also on the post-2015 development agenda and the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals at country level. The issue of international migration and development will also be addressed.

The Director-General will chair the annual meeting of the UNAIDS Committee of Cosponsoring Organizations (CCO). She will take part in the special event marking the “1,000 Days to the Millennium Development Goals,” hosted by the United Nations Secretary-General and the Government of Spain, and she will also participate in the meeting of the United Nations Development Group Principals.

During her stay in Madrid, Irina Bokova will also hold bilateral meetings with the Spanish Minister of Education, Culture and Sport as well as other high officials of the Government.
