The Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week which is celebrated annually from 24 to 31 October is led by UNESCO, in cooperation with the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance (GAPMIL), the Media and Information and Intercultural Dialogue (MILID) University Network, and other partners such as the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (Netherlands), the Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania) and others.
The ninth annual global celebration of Global MIL Week will take place under the subject “Resisting Disinfodemic: Media and Information Literacy for everyone and, by everyone”.
The subject highlights how the society today can address disinformation by recognizing the shared interest in improving everyone’s competencies to use opportunities and to address risks in today’s world of communication, technology, and information.
MIL stakeholders around the world will be mobilized to organize and register in on-line events and activities related to MIL in their community, city, or region, taking place in the period of the Global MIL Week and beyond, during October and November 2020.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Global MIL Week 2020 feature events will take place in on-line format.
