Director-General’s official visit to Montenegro
From 18 to 20 July, UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, is undertaking an official visit to Montenegro, where she is expected to meet with the President of Montenegro, H. E. Mr Filip Vujanovic and the Prime Minister, H. E. Mr Milo Djukanovic, as well as several high level government officials, including the Vice President and Minister of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Mr Igor Luksic, the Minister of Science, Ms Sanja Vlahovic, and the President of the Committee of the Montenegrin Parliament for gender equality, Ms Nada Drobnjak. She is also expected to meet with the Mayor of the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, Mr Aleksandar Bogdanovic and with the President of the Municipality of Kotor, Ms Marija Catovic.
While in Montenegro, the Director-General will visit Cetinje, where she will attend the regional meeting entitled “Bridge on Rijeka Crnojevića Speaks”, which is organized the Balkanika Foundation with UNESCO’s support. The meeting is held within the framework of UNESCO’s global initiative “Culture: A Bridge to Development”, launched by the Director-General in 2011, to make the most of bridges as symbols of unity and mutual understanding and to build on the power of culture as a dynamic force of co-operation and innovation for inclusive economic development, social cohesion, and peace.
