The National University of Timor-Leste (Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa'e, UNTL) and UNESCO Office Jakarta, with the support of the Netherlands Funds-in-Trust project, will organize a Journalism Clinic for students of Department of Social Communication. The Department of Social Communication, under the Faculty of Social Sciences, was established in 2008 with focus on educating Timor-Leste’s future journalists to enter the industry as qualified professionals, and to thus improve the quality of journalism in Timor-Leste.
The Journalism Clinic is an intensive extracurricular practical journalism writing programme focusing on news writing, with structured classes mentored by Timor-Leste’s senior editors and journalists. The programme aims at improving the news writing ability in Tetum and prepare the students of Social Communication to enter the media industry with practical writing experience, making them job-ready.
During the 12-week course, each trainer will meet at least once a week with a small group of no more than 12 students to have a mentoring class to improve the quality of their news writing in Tetum.

Who are we looking for:
Up to five trainers who are willing to commit for the entire duration of 12 weeks of the journalism clinic.
1. A 12-week Teaching Plan or syllabus (in Tetum with translation in Indonesian or English) which must include, at the minimum, the following information:
a) Objective of the course;
b) Topics to be covered over the 12 weeks;
c) Pre-training assessment for the students administer at the start of the course;
d) Post-training assessment for the students at end of the course;
e) List of resources.
2. Mid-term (6-week) Progress Report (in Indonesian or English)
3. Final Narrative Report (in Indonesian or English) with lessons-learned and recommendations for future journalism clinic, and a summary of the assessment of the students

a) Based in Dili or surrounding area;
b) Degree or equivalent professional experience communications, journalism, humanities, or related field;
c) At least five years experience of working in media organization in Timor-Leste, with proven record of competency in news writing in Tetum;
d) Experience in designing a training curriculum/module, particularly on news writing, is an advantage;
e) Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in Tetum and working level of English/Indonesian;
