Cristina Archetti is Professor in Political Communication and Journalism at the University of Oslo, Norway. She is author, among other books, of Understanding Terrorism in the Age of Global Media: A Communication Approach (Palgrave, 2012).

Her research interests cover security, politics, and strategic communication. Beyond having written on the role of communication in terrorism and counterterrorism, her publications also cover public diplomacy 2.0, the media coverage of conflict, the effect of digital technologies on politics and journalism. She serves on the editorial board of the journal Critical Studies on Terrorism and has over a decade experience in teaching political communication.

Among her most recent engagements, she taught about the role of communication in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) on courses provided to officials and community stakeholders by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) and the Hedayah Center in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates); she regularly lectures for the NATO Strategic Communication Centre of Excellence in Riga (Latvia).
