Assistant-Professor (Al-AZHAR Representative) (Egypt)
Born in Egypt in 1976, AbdelRahman Fouda did all his studies at AZHAR. He received his Bachelor of French Language and Literature from the French Department, Faculty of Languages and Translation, University of Al-AZHAR, in 1998. He was appointed assistant in the same department where he obtained his Master of French Language and Literature (“Les Conquérants d’André Malraux: Traduction vers l’arabe suivie d’une étude littéraire et linguistique”) in 2004 to become Assistant-Professor. His PhD, registered in co-supervision between the University of Al-AZHAR and the University of Aix-en-Provence (Aix-Marseille 1), titled "Etude traductologique de trois romans de Taher Ben Jelloun : L’Enfant de Sable, La Nuit sacrée, Jour de silence à Tanger " was obtained in 2008, with mention "Very honorable" and title "Lecturer ".
To obtain the title of Assistant-Professor in 2014, he presented to the Committee for Promotion six research: 1) La réception des Caricatures anti-islamiques dans le Monde musulman ; 2) Les effets sémantiques dus à la multiplicité des modes de lecture du Coran ; 3) La problématique de la traduction poétique : Application sur des exemples choisis d’Al-Mou‘allaqât ; 4) Mort d’un silence de Clémence Boulouque : étude sémiologique des personnages ; 5) L’image spéculaire de l’Egypte à travers « L’Egypte dans mon miroir » de Jeanne Arcache : étude imagologique ; 6) Les enjeux de la traduction poétique.
In order to obtain the title of Professor, he presented five more research to the Committee for Promotion so far: 1) La poétisation de la Sirah du Prophète Mohammad, étude du poème « L’an neuf de l’Hégire» de V. Hugo ; 2) La problématique de la traduction des Subtilités coraniques ; 3) Le réel palestinien dans l'imaginaire juif : le cas de «Palestine» d'Hubert Haddad ; 4) Relation créatrice Auteur/Traducteur : le cas de «Le Soleil des Scorta» De Laurent Gaudé ; 5) Pièges de l'arabe et problématique de leur traduction vers le français.
He currently holds the position of Assistant-Professor in the Department of French, languages and translation Faculty at the University of Al-AZHAR. He previously held the position of Deputy Head of the same department, and as Director of the French Department (Islamic Studies) at the same Faculty, and as Director of the French Unit at the AZHAR Observatory of the Grand Imam of Al-AZHAR headquarters. He spent two years as a PhD student in France from 2006 to 2008, where he also worked as an Arab Reader at the University of Aix-Marseille 1. He also worked as a teacher in more than one Egyptian university. He will be the Al-AZHAR Representative at the Conference
