Short description: 
Amal Sabrie is a consultant for the Social Human Sciences unit at the UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa. She received her BA in honors Psychology at the University of Waterloo and is currently in the process of completing an MSc in International Development with the University of Birmingham. Amal spent her college years participating in numerous anti-oppressive campaigns namely divesting from fossil fuels, promoting women and LGBTQ rights, and facilitating campus dialogues on race. Amal also interned for the United Nations Population Fund in Madagascar as part of her cooperative studies, she worked under the Sexual Reproductive Health unit. She plans on honoring her dedication to social justice, non violence, and dialogue by joining UNESCO. Amal's responsibilities in the Social Human Sciences (SHS) department include the following: 1. Assisting in the development of projects to be implemented by SHS with a focus on programs related to youth, inclusive cities, gender, women's rights, and intercultural dialogue. 2. Assist in the organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops. 3. Study and evaluate the state of research to date on social transformations in the Southern African region.
