A quiz to raise awareness on the need to protect the beaches

For coastal areas, water quality, safety and access for all: the Blue Flag Programme, created by the Foundation for Environmental Education, represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment. Central to the aims of the Blue Flag Programme is connecting the public with their surroundings and encouraging them to learn more about their environment. As such, environmental education activities must be offered and promoted in addition to a permanent display of information relevant to the site in terms of biodiversity, ecosystems and environmental phenomena.

WASTE ECO QUIZ

A local waste recycling company visits the beach, brings a stand with information about different kinds of litter and organizes a recycling competition amongst beach visitors. The activity is divided into two parts: a quiz with questions concerning plastic waste and questions about glass and metal waste. All participants receive prizes, such as pencil sharpeners formed as litterbins.

The information stand, waste quiz, prizes and cameras are used for this activity, which is then promoted by tourist offices, environmental education centers, local media, as well as on the websites and information boards of the waste recycling company and municipality.
