With members in 73 countries around the world, the Foundation for Environmental Education programmes represent the cutting edge in Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Education. Our programmes educate young people to cultivate a more environmentally conscious approach in their lives and to promote sustainable business practices and the protection of our valuable natural resources. It is the vision of the Foundation for Environmental Education that our programmes empower people everywhere to live sustainably and in an environmentally conscious manner.
Recognized by UNESCO as a world-leader within the fields of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development, our strength comes from our members who share our convictions and execute our programmes with great efficiency on a daily basis. Hand-picked by the Foundation for their dedication and outstanding ability, it is these local organizations who make the Foundation for Environmental Education the much respected, admired and trusted entity that it is today.
THE BLUE FLAG PROGRAMME
For the coastal environment, water quality, safety and access for all: the Blue Flag Programme represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment. Central to the ideals of the Blue Flag programme is the aim of connecting the public with their surroundings and encouraging them to learn more about their environment. As such, environmental education activities must be offered and promoted in addition to a permanent display of information relevant to the site in terms of biodiversity, ecosystems and environmental phenomena.
Through close collaboration with our members on any and all issues they may have, the Foundation for Environmental Education works tirelessly to ensure the programmes expansion, and that the unrivalled standards of the Blue Flag are maintained internationally.
Beach Clean Up Manual (2014)
Cleaning beaches and coastal areas is a first trigger for people to start understanding the huge pressure we are putting on our marine environment. However, to change people’s habits and ensure they connect to the environment, a long-term approach is vital. This is what we strive to do with the Blue Flag programme, and we are very thankful that Corona is embracing this concept with us. What we have developed together is much more than a clean-up, it is the long-term adoption of a coastal stretch, a promise to care for the future.
Beyond our positive partnership, it is a real legacy we wish to leave behind. Not only to the Blue Flag sites, but to all the coastal areas which need caring and loving.
