President of the World Association of Russian Press and Former Director-General of ITAR-TASS Russian News Agency, Vitaly Ignatenko was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in June 2008, in light of his efforts to promote Russian language around the world.
In 2003, Mr Ignatenko received the Government Award of the Russian Federation for his actions to promote the Russian language.
